New flat design in zygomatic implantology: a case series

Zygomatic implantology has proven reliable over time and constitutes an effective alternative to bone reconstruction in cases of severe atrophy. The use of this technique allows for a reduction in both rehabilitation times and biological and economic costs, allowing operations to be performed under conscious sedation. In the following case reports, two patients, respectively with complete edentulism of the upper jaw and of the posterior portion of the first quadrant, were rehabilitated with flat design implants, a new type of implant with a design characterized by a flat surface at the vestibular level on the body of the fixture, designed to favor a better expression of the soft tissues and to contain the risk of decubitus. In both cases, a few hours after the surgery, a temporary prosthesis was screwed in for immediate loading.
