Biomec – Oxy Implant is about to celebrate its first 35 years of international success in the dental field.
ABSTRACT
In the editorial, Olivio Della Bella retraces the birth and evolution of Biomec, founded in Colico on January 17, 1990, together with Romolo Micheletti. Born from a pioneering experience in the implant sector, the company faced difficult but formative early years, growing thanks to passion, dedication, and innovation. In the early 2000s, the Oxy Implant brand project took shape, realized in 2004 in response to demand from the Spanish market. After a crisis in 2013, the brand successfully relaunched internationally with advanced implant solutions such as the Fixo line for guided surgery.
Today, Biomec has over 70 employees, a distribution network in more than 20 countries, and an annual growth rate of 20%. It was among the first Italian companies certified according to the new EU MDR regulation Looking to the future, Mr. Della Bella highlights the central role of innovation and digital services, represented by the ODS department, and announces an important expansion plan On the occasion of the 35th anniversary, the company will celebrate the milestone with a special event in Milan on January 17, 2025, combining training and entertainment for clients, partners, and the entire Oxy Team.
Furthermore, the editorial explores the evolution and strategic role of the ODS – Oxy Digital Solutions department within Biomec – Oxy Implant, through an interview with the engineer. Giacomo Moretti, founder of the team. Formally established in 2021, ODS embodies the vision of integration between implants and digital services, an insight originally shared with Commercial Director Claudio Bettega, a key figure in the company’s history. The department stands out for a multidisciplinary approach that combines biomedical engineering, dental technology, micromechanics, and commercial expertise, with the goal of offering personalized solutions and comprehensive digital support to implantologists.
ODS is designed as an advanced customer service that integrates intraoral scanners, design and planning software, 3D printing, and milling into the workflow, and now aims at internationalizing the model. Among the flagship innovations stands out Pcube, a multi-material modular guide system for prosthetically guided surgery, described as a ‘technological jewel’ for its design and use of anodized titanium components. The experience gained in digital technology now allows Moretti, as General Manager, to lead the company toward an increasingly therapy-centric and patient-oriented approach, consistent with Biomec’s historic mission.
